Ju Ming
Ju Ming  (1938 —         )
Ju Ming was born in Miaoli, Taiwan, in 1938. He began his study of sculpture in 1953 under sculptor Lee Chinchun. Between 1968 and 1976 he studied modern techniques with master sculptor Yoyo Yang. Ju Ming presented his first one-man exhibition in 1976 at the National Museum of History, Taipei. This established him as a prominent figure of the Nativist movement. In the early 1970's, Ju Ming began work on a sequence of sculptures, known as the Taichi series. Exhibitions and sales of this work gained him international recognition and it is still primarily the work that he is identified by. Ju Ming has had numerous museum exhibitions worldwide including at the South Bank Art Center, London; the Hakone Open-Air Museum, Japan; and the National Art Museum of China, Beijing. After a ten-year planning, in 1999, the Ju Ming Museum, Taipei, opened to the public. In 2003, Ju Ming was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Fu Jen Catholic University.
