Wang Gongxin was born in Beijing in 1960. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Capital Normal University, Beijing, in 1982. Lin Tianmiao was born in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, in 1961. She graduated from the Fine Art Department, Capital Normal University, Beijing, in 1984. She attended the Art Students' League, New York, and graduated in 1989. Wang Gongxin and Lin Tianmiao work together on their video/photo installation projects. They are considered to be on the cutting edge of the Chinese avant-garde movement and have been invited to present their work in numerous exhibitions internationally.
